The part people are nervous about and then talk about afterwards. Short, sharp, entirely voluntary, and considerably more manageable than it looks from the outside.
A cold water plunge, used after heat as the second half of a contrast cycle. Thirty seconds is a real plunge. Two or three minutes is a long one. Nobody is timing you and there is no board on the wall.
The first ten seconds are the hardest part. If you can slow your breathing through those, the rest is far easier than you expect.
We are in Sandgate on Brisbane's northside, and the plunge is included in every recovery room session.
Who it suits: Athletes, anyone sore, and anyone curious. Not for everyone. See the health notes before you book.

Hot, cold, rest. The cold is what makes the rest feel like something.
“Visited for the first time recently to soothe my sore body from my sport, really nice. I slept so well after I got home. I was too much of a weenie to do the cold pool but I did put my legs in and it helped the strain on my ankles.”
“A beautiful space with fantastic facilities. Ideal for athletes doing any kind of training, or parents just looking for some quiet time out. Highly recommend the cold plunge!”

A balanced recovery experience designed to restore body and mind. Time to unwind, regulate and reconnect.
Cold enough that your breath catches. Ask at reception for the setting on the day.
Thirty seconds is a genuine plunge. Build from there if you want to, and stop if you do not.
Get out. Then use the pools and the sauna, which is what plenty of people do.
