Traditional sauna
Hot rock, dry heat, and no complications. Some people call it a hot rock sauna. Same thing. The hottest room we have, and the fastest way to get properly warm before the cold.
A traditional Finnish-style sauna: heat radiating off stone, dry air, the smell of timber. It runs considerably hotter than the infrared room, so you will feel it sooner and stay in for less time.
Ten minutes is a solid stint. Fifteen is a good one. If you are new, start shorter than you think and come out before you have to.
You will find it at our bathhouse in Sandgate, on Brisbane's northside, included in every recovery room session.
Who it suits: Anyone running contrast cycles, anyone cold, anyone stiff, and anyone who wants heat that gets on with it.
If you are running contrast cycles, this is the quickest route to properly warm.
Dry heat loosens tight shoulders, backs and legs in a way that is hard to argue with.
Sauna culture is old, communal and unhurried. The bench is where people actually slow down.
Sandgate gets a sea breeze. In July the sauna is the busiest thing we have.
“Outstanding setup! Rock sauna, cold pool, warm pool, infrared. Very well designed and priced generously. Hard to believe you're still in Sandgate, feels like the spa centre of a high end resort. Highly highly recommend.”
A short, restorative reset in the recovery room. Move between heat and cold at your own pace.
A balanced recovery experience designed to restore body and mind. Time to unwind, regulate and reconnect.
Hot. Ask at reception for the current setting. We would rather give you the real number.
Until you have had enough, and no longer. Ten to fifteen minutes suits most people.
Traditional is hotter and faster. Infrared is gentler and private, and you stay in longer. Different jobs.
